Traditional quilts
"Star Of Scotland"
2005
This quilt was inspired by a quilt in a book called "Lone stars and beyond". When I made it, I hadn't got over my dislike of green and hence this is a rainbow without green. Surprisingly few people notice that the green is missing, but were I to make another I would put the green in and have a full rainbow. The center star is strip pieced and the rest is foundation piecing. The quilt is a king size at aproximately 108" square. To add sparkle, the quilting on this piece is all done using a metallic silver thread. The effect is quite subtle but does give the black background a lift. All of the fabrics except the black were bought in Scotland during a Linux conference.
